The New York Trilogy
“The New York Trilogy” by Paul Auster
My rating: 3/5
Although the three stories are collected as a whole piece of conceptual literature, I find it hard to award an overall rating due to how my level of enjoyment varied between them. I loved the first story, “City of Glass” and would probably give it four or five stars, as the feel of it is excellent and I found the...

Goodbye Tsugumi
“Goodbye Tsugumi” by Banana Yoshimoto
My Rating: 4.5/5
This is a beautiful little book, an insight into the world of a girl living by the sea in Japan. The story is a quiet one, with a minimalist narrative and few moments of action or conflict, yet still Goodbye Tsugumi is difficult to put down. Strangely, the atmosphere reminded me of how it felt to be immersed in Enid...

I just want to ask if you know the release dates of Norwegian Wood outside Japan? I didn't want to bother you or anything but I can't find it at the moment. Thanks.

The Merlin Conspiracy
The Merlin Conspiracy by Diana Wynne Jones
My rating: 5/5
Diana Wynne Jones is incredible, and this is no exception. I loved every second. It took me a few pages to slip into the rhythm of the rather short sentences, but the writing style is brilliant and builds the characters up beautifully; this is also to be expected in writing for younger audiences (although I stress there is so much depth,...

What happens to forgotten ideas?
I go through periods where I write considerably - journal entries, contemplations, ideas, lyrics and stories. Other times (for example, the last few months in my life) I find putting pen to paper intolerably difficult. Maybe it’s just a lack of inspiration, a lack of free time, or a lack of motivation. When life seems lacklustre the words just don’t flow from me. What happens to...

One day, I will have my own library.
It will be magical; a room full of hundreds of inspiring worlds and characters. There will be fairy lights, comfortable chairs, and a duck librarian.

Snow And Ice - The story of the beautiful Snow, and her quest to defeat Ice, the evil doer, and lord of the Christmas Bugle!
A lovely winter tale to celebrate the oncoming of snow. It’s the newest animation by Kyle Webster and myself (combined we make up Chog Zoo Animation). We just finished it yesterday and we’re both really pleased with how this one turned out!

Thank You
Thanks very much to everyone who follows me and re-blogs things! I really appreciate it. Also, thank you to the snow for covering my street completely, it’s 2am and as of now there is a cool, albeit slightly scary snowman standing on our driveway.

A Coincidence...
A few weeks ago I’d been at my grandparents’ house for a Sunday meal, and on the topic of books my Nana started telling us about how she used to love reading The Famous Five books by Enid Blyton when she was young. She wasn’t allowed to stay up late so had to read them under her bedsheets in secret - which I thought was a nice insight, especially since I voraciously read The Famous Five when I...

“9 cameras, placed in 9 seperate universes, recording 9 alternate realities at exactly the same time. Scientists found that when this footage was played back together, it formed a somewhat coherent sound and the scientists released their findings as a song.”
I made this years ago, slightly out of tune, and my hair was damn long then, but I’m reading books in two of the windows!

if nobody speaks of remarkable things
“If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things” by Jon McGregor
My rating: 5/5
An absolutely beautiful yet absolutely horrifying book. The remarks upon life in northern England are incredibly truthful and are at the same time surprisingly captivating - especially considering my own bleak outlook on the area in which lies my hometown. While touching upon how sad life can be, “If...

Books Smell Amazing
At 11:30pm last night I stood in my local supermarket in the book aisle, and with nobody around at the late hour I must have opened and smelled around 10 books one after the other. It’s dawned on me that the supermarket security camera must’ve picked up some very interesting footage!

Chocky
Chocky by John Wyndham
My Rating: 4/5
Chocky was an extremely fun read, and although it had the feeling of more of a short story, it was full of ideas that made me laugh and musings that stirred up my thoughts into the night. The book became increasingly difficult to put down, as Wyndham’s incredibly smart yet simple writing style delivers sentences and conversation efficiently and with...

Sputnik Sweetheart
Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami
My Rating: 5/5
In Sputnik Sweetheart, Murakami has woven yet another incredibly beautiful tapestry – one which dips in and out of layers of the real and the metaphysical with poetic subtlety. One notable point is how vivid the whole thing felt. Like one of those dreams where you wake feeling as though your dream life was more real than your real one. In...
